Hepatitis
Inflammation of the liver caused by an infectious agent, toxin, or a drug. The illness may be mild or life threatening. Elevated liver enzymes can detect chronic cases.
Hepatotoxicity
Toxicity to the liver.
Idiosyncratic
Individual reaction to a drug.
Jaundice
Marked by yellow staining of body tissue and fluids. It is a result of excessive levels of bilirubin (liver enzymes) in the blood stream, usually in excess of 3 mg/dl.
Liver Function
The liver functions to secrete bile and is the site of numerous metabolic functions.
Rhabdomyolisis
An acute potentially fatal disease where the byproducts of muscle destruction results in acute renal failure. Generally it is a result of the toxic effects of drugs.
